There was no power, no heat, no telephones and no water. The temps were quite low; 16 degrees during the night and hovering just below freezing during the day
before they dropped down into the teens during the day
The mornings were a balmy 50 degrees inside the house until the generator was fired up. One morning it was 38 degrees, talk about chilly!
Once the generator was running, then the coffee starts perking, there was hot cereal for the kids and water was heated for cleaning up and dishes
Then it was time to get dressed in layers, relax for a bit then get dinner going so we could be finished eating and cleaning up before nightfall. Water is being rationed for dishes, personal hygiene and cooking/drinking.....and of course, flushing.
It was a bit like camping only it was freakin freeeezing
Utility companies from states north, south, east and west came to the rescue and after a couple of weeks with nothing, once again there is power, lights, blessed heat, water, phones, cable and the internet

Enjoy the pictures. They're what we saw from the windows of the house, front, side and back yard.....and then the destruction left behind once all the ice melted away
